Is it just me?

“Flight”
oil on canvas
100 x 100cm
2010
$300

I’m not quite feeling it with my paintings this week. I don’t know if is because this one and a couple of watercolours I have painted haven’t turned out quite how I pictured them, or if it is because they are just not quite hitting the mark.

I suppose I have been a bit spoiled lately, everything I have painted has matched or exceeded my expectations and I have been instantly thrilled. Oh well, I shall push on, I know it won’t always feel like this and the next piece could be a masterpiece!

I hope your expectations have been exceeded in your creative space this week. I shall put on a cuppa and pop by for a look….

  1. I know how you feel... sometimes you just need to go to a cafe with a good book and take the day off!

  4. Its ok to have not-so-great days. The awesome days will return! I had a full 3 weeks of awful pots, nearly swore myself off the whole thing but then a new bag of clay fixed everything :) Hope your painting mojo comes back soon!

  6. It looks like when the coral releases the eggs.... or when an ovary releases an egg...

  7. I know what you mean - sometimes it really is best not to plan what you are doing!
Then it turns out fine! I had grand ideas this week, but when it came down to it - didn't look at all like what i thought!

  11. Those off days are a pain but maybe something is telling you to take it easy. Love the painting. To me it looks like two hands holding something very delicate and precious.

it is frustrating when you think you have a great idea and can't quite pull it off ~ but the beauty of it is, the thing you don't think will, turns into an unexpected boon

  13. It looks beatufiul to me, but I understand and know myself the thing you are going through. I went through that myself in the past 2 weeks to be very honest, and i was fearing I had lost "it". 5 reject heads later but I did keep at to get this current head, who i think has potential.
Keep going and you will get there I'm sure
