Chili Beach, Shadow Shot Sunday

It’s Shadow Shot Sunday again, so photographers and happy snappers from across the globe will be flocking over to Hey Harriet to share their shadowy pics.

My shadowy shot this week was taken at Chili Beach on our Cape York adventure. I love that the pandanus tree is so prominent in the foreground, but the shadow is of one of the coconut trees towering out of frame above.

The dilemma you are faced with in this picture perfect paradise is to swim or not to swim. There are salt water crocs, stingers and sharks. We took the plunge, would you have been brave (or stupid!) enough to join us?

Thanks so much to all of you who popped by from Shadow Shot Sunday last week, especially those of you who left lovely comments about my photo. My favourite comment was from Cassie....

“Okey dokey, I'm going in a different direction from Ralph & SylviaK. Looks like the pantomime for "I'm A Little Teapot"...Here is my handle. Here is my spout! Nice Shadow Shot. Welcome to this eclectic group of shadow hunters!”

I hadn’t seen the little tea pot before, but I do now and I love that it has added another layer to a shot of my two favourite guys.

  1. What an awesome beach and here at the end of winter for us, it never looked more beautiful or inviting!! Love your shadow shot as well as the tree in the foreground and of course, the sandy beach and blue water and skies!! Heavenly! Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

  2. The beach offers a true look at Australian paradise! The off-white sand is a fine backdrop for the coconut tree and its shadow, with gorgeous blue skies above and the lovely combination of teal and azure waters. Given the warm climate Down Under, the shade is the place to be on this fine day!

  4. What a wonderful shot! I love the those shadows! So exotic. The water does look inviting. I don't know if I would've gone in. Maybe just to my knees.

  6. That is one super shadow! And I'm loving the colour of the ocean! Crocs, stingers and sharks? Would I take the plunge? Er...no. I'm not much of a daredevil I'm afraid. As inviting as the water looks, now I know what lies beneath it I'll not swim there if I ever visit! You are one very crazy brave soul! Have yourself a great week.

  8. I love the contrasts in your photo - the white sand, impossibly blue ocean, and the black, crisp shadow of the palm. Well done!
And if you're taking a poll: Had I not known about the crocs, stingers and sharks, I would have plunged right in. Knowledge, however, has made me a wuss. :)
