Painting Shadows

My shadow shot this week appeared during a painting session on Tuesday. I am so happy with the painting, I do hope you can spare a moment to pop over and see it.

Once again I must mention how grateful I am to Tracey for hosting Shadow Shot Sunday. It really has made me look more closely at every moment and take in beauty that I may have missed.

If you’re not already a shadow hunter, you really should pop over and play along, it lots of fun and a little bit addictive.

  3. Shadows as art is something I had not considered prior to chasing shadows myself. The artist needs a canvas and of course a medium is required for the artist. Neat that the tools of the artists trade are shadowy art on their own...

I looked at your art - the gum tree is a wonderful subject. I am always intrigued how the artist has a vision that we don't have when preparing for the painting - and how nice it looks when finished. Nice work!

  4. I like the contrast between the solid shadow of the paint and the ethereal shadow of the glass!

  16. A lovely shadow shot and I popped over to look at your painting, and Wow! It's beautiful Kylie. And I'm sure your tree buddy Ernest will live a long and happy life in the park. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Geez, it's almost over. How did that happen !?!

  17. I too am an artist, mostly watercolors, but my art shows up in many forms these days...Ernest is a beautiful, special tree. I have one too, it's my catalpa tree, which is in full bloom right now. I call it my Starling tree, as many nestlings have flown from it's holes.

    Have a safe weekend!

  21. Hey Kylie - so great to 'meet' you! Always nice to hear an aussie voice in the mix!!! The class feedback is fabulous - but having a hard time trying to read everyones messages and make comments!!! Which is a good problem to have - a whole lot of like-minded souls is awesome. See you inclass !
